I have been doing Paleo for 10 weeks now and I don’t even think of it when I plan my meals now, I just treat it with a pinch of salt and get on with it.
However when you are starting out, it can be hard to get your head around what you should eat and what meals will leave you satisfied so that you’re not reaching for Paleo banned foods.
Therefore I wanted to share with you what I had for my first week so that you can get some ideas together of your own week of Paleo meals. I originally did a gradual Paleo where I cut something out each week and then on the final week I was completely Paleo.
Below is what I ate on my 100% Paleo week for dinner for 7 days:
Week Of Paleo Meals Day 1
Sausage, chips and tomatoes – I love this and if you can find some Paleo approved sausages then go for it! I made my chips with sweet potatoes and it was fresh tomatoes. It was a lovely plateful of food and a great use of the leftover sausages we had in the freezer.
Week Of Paleo Meals Day 2
Chicken thighs tray bake – Now this is a MUST on your Paleo calendar. It is very simple to make and absolutely delicious, plus it is very healthy too which always helps!
Cut up some vegetables onto an oven dish, mix with 3 tablespoons of coconut oil and then add a few chicken thighs on top. Then bake in the oven for an hour and you have your dream roast. Very little preparation time and so easy to make if you are not good at cooking. I will be posting the recipe on the blog later this month so keep an eye out for it!
Week Of Paleo Meals Day 3
Vegetable Thai curry – Thai curry is perfect for Paleo. This is because the sauce is made from coconut milk which is a main part of the Paleo lifestyle and is used a lot.
You can simply find some Paleo approved Thai curry paste, add it with other seasoning to your slow cooker, and then add vegetables and leave to cook. I like to have mine with courgette, carrot, leek, butternut squash and asparagus but aim it around what you have in.
Week Of Paleo Meals Day 4
Pork steak and vegetables with cauliflower sauce – This is your simple meat and vegetables dish that is the kind of thing a fella would cook you.
This is what Dominic made me on day 4 of my 100% Paleo and in it I had loads of vegetables, pork steak and cauliflower sauce.
You could recreate this by using chicken breast, beef, venison, duck or whatever you prefer to have.
Week Of Paleo Meals Day 5
Vegetable Ragu – I am not a vegetarian but I do find that I enjoy having a couple of days a week free of meat. This is one of the dishes I tend to opt for. I get my wok out and add onion, garlic, loads of vegetables then plenty of tomato sauce and Italian flavoring. It makes dinner really special and surprisingly I have no urge to add pasta to the meal.
Week Of Paleo Meals Day 6
Kebabs with tomatoes and peppers – I love kebabs and they can make a perfect option if you are looking for a family favorite that will please even non-Paleo followers.
I either make Indian style kebabs with mince and lots of spice, or I put pieces of chicken or pork on kebab skewers with vegetables. Or if you love seafood then swap the meat for prawns.
Week Of Paleo Meals Day 7
Chicken, butternut squash and carrots – I love some chicken breast and it is even nicer when you have roasted butternut squash and some carrots to go with it. I served them without a sauce but you can have a sauce instead if you want.
These are of course just 7 ideas and this is a real life account of a week of Paleo meals. I would advise that you try a few of these and then mix them in with your own ideas for your ultimate week on the Paleo diet. But most importantly, make sure you enjoy your Paleo diet otherwise you will think of it as just another diet and not understand the health benefits that it brings you!
